Boreh, made from a mixture of indigenous herbs and spices including nutmeg, pepper, cloves, ginger, Javanese long pepper, Curcuma heyneana and rice powder is a traditional Balinese body scrub that has been used for centuries to warm the body, improve blood circulation and relieve muscular aches and pains, chills and headaches.

We begin your ritual with a massage using an aromatherapy oil to nourish and soothe the skin and eliminate tensions from your muscles. We follow this with a Boreh paste of indigenous herbs and spices, including nutmeg, pepper, cloves, ginger and rice powder. As you are gently exfoliated, experience a sensation of warmth as your therapist massages your neck and shoulders. We gently apply a cucumber body mask to cool, moisturize and soothe. Finally, enjoy the pleasure of a traditional mandi to cleanse your body and relaxing flower bath while enjoy a cup of ginger tea.

JAVANESE LULUR WITH YOGURT BODY MASK

Lulur originated in the royal palaces of Central Java, and is still practiced among Indonesian woman and spa goers in Asia. The ritual, which traditionally lasts for the 40 days prior to the wedding, is honored as a time for nurturing and privacy when the women of the family can share sacred stories with the young girl. Lulur is given to the bride-to-be to purify, beautify, soften, and sweeten her skin.

The Puri Esthetic lulur ritual begins with a massage with coconut oil infused with pandanus leaves and cempaka flowers followed by exfoliation with a blend of rice, turmeric, sandalwood, jasmine flowers and a hint of jasmine oil, leaving the skin gently scented. The massage and exfoliation treatments are followed by a flower bath laced with petals of jasmine, rose frangipani seasonal aromatic blossoms and astringent leaves.

During the bath, the bride sips a traditional tonic beverage called jamu. Made of turmeric, ginger, egg yolk, and healing herbs, jamu tones the blood. in modern times, the lulur is completed with and application of jasmine and frangipani moisturizer. The ritual itself takes about 2 hours. As a spa treatment, this is one of the most pampering experiences available today.

Penny has 30 years experience in the Spa Industry. From beauty therapist to proprietor of her own chain of Salons. She established a Health and Beauty Training Academy.

She moved to Asia 16 years ago and became active in the South East Asia Cultures. She has managed several Spa’s in Asia plus Spa Director for an Internationally recognized Destination Spa.

She now lives in Bali where she has set up Bali BISA with the aim of bringing International Training Standards to Bali. With her wide experience of business development, she will be handling daily operations and all Management Training Courses.

Ayu from Bali began her career in the Spa Industry in 2002 Having worked in several Spa’s in Bali as a therapist, receptionist then Spa Manager. She became a Spa trainer now of 3 years standing. Her dedication to teaching the Traditional and International Therapy’s to local students and overseas students to world class standard is unsurpassed.

Tri is an Indonesian and has been working in the hospitality industry since 1994 and working in the Spa Industry for almost 10 years. His knowledge covers development of Spa Products and International Spa Operations. Tri has traveled extensively to increase his knowledge of treatments from around the world. His personal interest lies in alternative therapies and there history dating back through the century’s. This has ultimately added to his skills as a Trainer. Tri has worked as a Management Consultant for Spa’s, Restaurant’s and Villa’s since 2003. Some of the locations have been Bali, Maldives and Japan.
