Consulates in Bali The title Consul is used for the official representatives of the government of one state in the territory of another, normally acting to assist and protect the citizens of the consul’s own country, and to facilitate trade and friendship between the people of the country to whom he or she is accredited and the country of which he or she is a representative. This distinguishes the consul from the ambassador or chargé d’affaires, who is, technically, a representative from one head of state to another.

Thus, while there is but one ambassador representing a nation’s head of state to another, and his or her duties revolve around diplomatic relations between the two countries, there may be several consuls, one in each of several main cities, providing assistance with bureaucratic issues to both the citizens of the consul’s own country travelling or living abroad, and to the citizens of the country the consul is in who wish to travel to or trade with the consul’s country.

Ancient and Medieval Times

Writings on massage have been found in many ancient civilizations such as Rome, Greece, Japan, China, Egypt, and India. Hippocrates wrote in 460 BC that “The physician must be experienced in many things, but assuredly in rubbing.” The 27th century BC Chinese book called Huangdi Neijing by the Yellow Emperor recommended “massage of skin and flesh.” The technique of massage abortion, involving the application of pressure to the pregnant abdomen, has been practiced in Southeast Asia for centuries.

Massage History One of the bas reliefs decorating the temple of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, dated circa 1150, depicts a demon performing such an abortion upon a woman who has been sent to the underworld.

This is believed to be the oldest known visual representation of abortion. In Romania some illnesses were treated by a massage in which the patient was treaded on by a tame bear.

ShiatsuShiatsu (Japanese from shi, meaning finger, and atsu, meaing pressure) is a traditional Japanese hands-on therapy based on anatomical and physiological theory and is regulated as a licensed medical therapy with the Ministry of Health and Welfare in Japan. Shiatsu is an evolving form. Various styles (called Derivative Shiatsu) incorporate (to differing degrees) aspects of Japanese massage traditions, Chinese Medicine practice, and “Western” anatomy and physiology.

History of Shiatsu
Shiatsu, as well as Teate ????, originated in Japan. There were many hands-on therapies called Teate before traditional Chinese therapies such as Acupuncture and Tuina (called Anma in Japan) were introduced to Japan. The term Shiatsu might be first cited in a 1915 book, Tenpaku Tamai’s Shiatsu Ry?h?.

Tokujiro Namikoshi founded the Japan Shiatsu College in 1940 and systematised a form of pressing with his thumbs and palms as he tried to nurse his mother who suffered from rheumatoid arthritis.
