How To Relax With Essential Oils

Though the human race hasn’t found a way to shut out illnesses and diseases entirely, what we can do is create and maintain a lifestyle that allows our bodies to be a place where health thrives.

Keep in mind that not all oils are created equal, there are some essential oils that are perfect for rashes, coughs, and asthma, while other oils are great for treating depression. Here we’ll explain one of the more milder uses of essential oils, essential oils for relaxation, which can be used by anybody in their own homes to unwind whilst soaking in the countless healing properties.

1. Use a Diffuser
Diffusers work by dispersing essential oil molecules into the air, while also promoting air circulation. The essential oil molecules will come in contact with nerves when inhaled, eventually sending signals to the brain. This is a quick and gentle way to inhale essential oils into your system.

Using essential oils in diffusers are a great remedy for asthma and other respiratory ailments, but it can also be used just to unwind after a long day of work or school. Add in a couple of drops of lavender, chamomile, or patchouli oil with purified water into your diffuser, and you’re good to go. Read a good book, and have a cup of tea while the fragrant air eases you into bedtime.

2. Take a Relaxing Bath
Taking a bath with essential oils can be one of the easiest yet most relaxing rewards after a long and stressful day. But a lot of people don’t realize that it’s not the best idea to add drops of essential oils directly into your bath. For one, essential oils will not mix and blend with the bathwater, simply because water and oil do not mix. Also, when certain essential oils come in direct contact with skin, it can cause irritation.

To combat all of this, what you can do is mix a few drops of your favorite relaxing essential oils into a cup of whole milk. The essential oils will bond with the fat in the milk, and once the mixture is mixed with your warm bath, not only will the oils relax you, but the milk will moisturize your skin.

3. Make a Face Steamer
If you ever need to recharge, or just want to start off the week right, a simple face steamer mixed with essential oils might just do the trick. Just pour some boiled water into a bowl or container, lean over, close your eyes, and breathe in the fragrant steam with a towel covering your head (to create a tent over your head).

The face steamer has a similar effect to the diffuser, but since you will be inhaling the steam closely, this is an even greater treatment to clear up your breathing and clear up your thoughts for the coming week!
