Ginger: Not Just for Detoxing

You may have heard that eating ginger regularly helps with detoxing, but you may not know that it also helps to settle your stomach, reduce inflammation and manage your weight.
For example, a study by the Institute for Human Nutrition at Columbia University found that, if you have a hot ginger drink with a meal, you are likely to feel fuller and therefore eat less. The scientists are calling for further research to confirm their findings.

Here’s a great detox meal plan for you:
  • Glass of hot water with a slice of lemon before breakfast
  • Breakfast: oat porridge sprinkled with seasonal fruits, nuts and seeds, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg
  • Mid-morning: apple and a handful of sunflower seeds
  • Lunch: homemade vegetable soup flavoured with garlic
  • Mid-afternoon: natural organic yoghurt topped with mixed berries and unsalted nuts
  • Dinner: steamed fish or tofu, served with a salad of green beans and lentils dressed with lemon juice, ginger, balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil
Throughout the day, drink at least 8 glasses of mineral or filtered water, herbal tea or diluted fruit juice.
